Terms and Conditions:

  1. The family members of Smt. Premlata Peshawaria have instituted an award to propagate the social values held by her during her lifetime to bring people together, help others in times of need, and to nurture and maintain healthy relationships within and between families.
  2. This award be called “Smt. Premlata Award for bringing families together”.   The award will consist of Citation and Cheque.
  3. An amount of Rs. 2.5 lakhs will be given to PARIVAAR-NCPO, the National Federation of Parents’ Associations as one time contribution by the family members of Smt. Premlata Peshawaria and is authorized to administer the Award.
  4. This amount should be used as corpus fund to be deposited as fixed deposit in a nationalized bank.
  5. The interest accrued annually should be used to give an award to a registered organizations of parents working for persons with mental retardation for furthering the effort to bring together families having persons with mental retardation.   Such activities may include holding a training workshop for parents, inviting an expert for a talk to parents/family members, running a newsletter for information of parents, self advocacy by persons with challenging behaviours, or any other innovative activity that will bring parents and family members of persons with mental retardation together.
  6. These activities should have demonstrated an impact on the lives of persons with mental retardation and their families in terms of furthering the rights of persons with mental retardation and their families.
  7. PARIVAAR-NCPO should invite applications from its member organizations or associations of parents having wards with mental retardation.   Procedure for inviting, format of application form, constitution of award committee, scrutiny, short listing and finalization of the award may be decided by PARIVAAR-NCPO and its competent bodies.
  8. This award should be given away every year to the selected organization or association at National Meet of Registered Parent Organizations.
  9. The family members of Smt. Premlata Peshawaria should be informed by registered post at the last known address about the decision of PARIVAAR-NCPO and the Organization chosen to be presented the “Smt. Premalata Award for brining families together”. The family members should be invited to witness this event at their own cost.
  10. At the presentation ceremony, citation of the award should be read out highlighting (a) information about Smt. Premlata Peshawaria and the values cherished by her in her lifetime, (b) objectives of the award, and (c) information about the organization receiving the award.
  11. If for some reason, in a given year the award is not given to any organization, the amount of the interest for that given year should be deposited in the bank to be merged with the principal amount.
  12. If ever situation arises sometime in future that this award has to be wound up, or in the opinion of PARIVAAR-NCPO this award is unworkable, PARIVAAR-NCPO may take a suitable decision in consultation with the family members of Smt. Premlata Peshawaria.
